Lunch with Jackie

Our little group is losing another friend, Jackie is hoisting her anchors and is returning to New Zealand to live after many years in Australia.

Jackie really does has two huge anchors.

Jackie started with us wanting to make a sewing machine cover, just over 12 months ago. During that time also made many quilts and aprons as you will see in previous posts. After finishing all her other UFO's (lucky girl) it's back to working on the original sewing machine cover.

The crazy patch cover has become a focal point each week as the other girls also add/given pieces. Stella gave some hand made tatting, Lynne D drew an Owl for Jackie to embroider, laces, beads and buttons have also been shared.

We all made a block to give to Jackie, to remember her time with us and gave them to her at  lunch. Not everyone could be there but we ...

Had a great time at Marcello's............

There is this fantastic little dress shop called Shevita in the same complex that we just had to check out. A couple of us made purchases.

We have two new ladies starting their first sampler quilt, here is Linda and Susan. Linda is hooked after two classes and is ready to do some hand work at night. So like many others a scrappy hexagon English paper piecing is her next challenge.

Patsy is battling with this very big quilt as you go quilt, putting on the last of the tracks. Never again she says, it started out as a wall hanging.

Patsy and I designed this quilt using a Layer Cake, a Jellyroll, and a meter of the dragonfly fabric. It looks fantastic. I quilted it for her using a red thread to outline all the dragonflys. I also quilted outlines of dragonflys on the plainer blocks as well and then connected it all with a  loopy allover background filler.   We are both very happy with this quilt.

Just a few photos from the group,

Happy stitching
